
Affectionately known as “Pop”, he is survived by his adoring wife of nearly 44 years, Kathleen (Jones) Wurzlow and her children Amy (Dustin) Pharris and Justin (Tracey) Vincent. Bill also raised three other children with his previous wife Janet Isbel: Clay (Pam), LeaNan and Elizabeth. He has been blessed with numerous grandchildren: Joshua (Sydney), Gabriel, Matthew, Aiden, Colette, Bastian, Viollette, Beckham, Jessica, Madison, and Jacob. He also has several great-grand children including Joseph and Lilith.
He is preceded in death by his parents William Robert and Elizabeth Wurzlow, his sister Lora Lea and sister-in-law Katherine, and daughter-in-law Paige Vincent.
Bill served in the US Army and Texas National Guard from 1957-1962. He had many interests in life including fishing, photography, woodworking, singing and playing guitar, and traveling and he was a fierce supporter of the La Marque Cougars and Dickinson Gators.
Bill retired from Texas City Refining and then went on to retire from Bay Tank Inc. and the Texas City Safety Council. He was a dedicated safety professional and was often asked for input by OSHA in the 1980s that developed standards for chemical exposure to workers in the industry.
He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He often communicated his love for his wife, family and friends through his music.
Pop was a gentle soul that will surely be missed.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 8200 25th Ave N, Texas City at 2pm visitation and 3pm service.
