Tommy was born to Frank and Thelma Brown on October 19, 1944. He enjoyed growing up in the “Good Old Days” where he spent his time hunting and fishing and loved those activities into his adult life. He liked to share stories of his childhood with his family and friends up until his death. After school he joined the US Army where he took pride in serving his country and loved the flag he served under. He was a Proud American. After leaving the army he became a truck driver and earned a wonderful living for his family. He married Trudy and together they had three beautiful children: Nancy, Rebecca and Tommy. He worked hard and took much delight bringing them on trips in the truck with him. Their favorite times together were spent in church where he and Trudy would sing and help lead the worship service. They would spend hours practicing so they could help bring the People of God into an atmosphere of worship on Sundays. He loved playing the guitar and teaching his children and grandchildren how to play. After 31 years of marriage, Trudy went home to her Lord in July of 2001. Tommy sorely missed her.
Tommy would not allow the death of his beloved to keep him down; he began to preach and share the hope and love of Christ to all he met. He knew that it was the redemptive love of Christ that made him the man, husband, father and grandfather that he was. Tommy was and always will be a shining example of a Godly Man to his family and friends.
Tommy is survived by his three children: Nancy Sirmons, Rebecca Gilbert and Tommy R. Brown Jr.; six grandchildren: Ariel Brown, Kevin Emmer, Richard Emmer, Dawn Owens Tessa Owens and Aubrey Owens along with nine great grandchildren.
