March 19, 2025 | Age 79
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Sherry Lee (Senkewitcz) Elson, who peacefully left this world on March 19, 2025, at the age of 79, in the comfort of her home in League City, TX. A devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong friend, Sherry's faith guided her throughout her life. Born in Connecticut, Sherry was the daughter of John P. Senkewitcz Sr. of New London, CT, and Viola “Vi” Jean (Chaluto) Senkewitcz of Hartford, CT. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother John Senkewitcz Jr. and sisters Janice Fillipi and Valerie Senkewitcz.
Sherry leaves behind her loving only daughter Lisa Norris and son-in-law Wyn Norris of Missouri City, TX, and her cherished grandsons Austin and Hunter Norris, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Jo Anne “Jodie” Senkewitcz of Vernon, CT, and many close friends whose lives she touched with her warmth, kindness, and lifelong friendship. Sherry was previously married to Jack W. Elson of Conroe, TX, with whom she shared nearly 30 years of marriage.
Throughout her life, Sherry was a woman of many passions. She enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling, and playing golf in her earlier years. Her love for arts and crafts, Christmas decorating, and the beach brought her joy and creativity. Sherry had successful careers in real estate, executive administration at Johnson & Johnson, and later at United Airlines (formerly Continental Airlines), where she spent many years before retiring. Known for her love of plants and gardening, Sherry found peace in the outdoors, cultivating her garden and surrounding herself with nature’s beauty. Despite facing health struggles later in life, including a battle with COPD, Sherry's resilience and spirit never wavered. Now, she rests peacefully in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, free from pain and surrounded by eternal love.
Sherry will be remembered with deep affection and fond memories by her family and friends. A private family celebration of her life will be held in her honor, and a gathering with friends will be planned at a later date, to memorialize and cherish moments and memories shared with Sherry, a woman who brought so much joy and warmth to those around her.
The family kindly requests that donations be made in Sherry’s memory to the American Lung Association, honoring the challenges she faced with COPD.
May Sherry rest in peace, embraced by God’s eternal love, and may her memory live on in the hearts of all who knew her. https://action.lung.org/site/Donation2?df_id=31271&mfc_pref=T&31271.donation=form1
