He was known to many as Dr. Traylor and to his friends and family as Tony. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Tony was born in Northwest Houston on March 22,1950. He attended Waltrip High School and the University of Houston. He was accepted to the University of Texas Dental Branch after 3 years of college. He married his beloved wife Janet Walker upon graduation from Dental School in 1975. He then went back to school to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry.
After completing his schooling, he joined his friend Richard Trippie in a very successful 37-year Pediatric Dentistry partnership in Baytown, Tx.
Tony loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman from childhood. He surfed and ran marathons, even qualifying for the Boston marathon. Tony was also gifted musically and played both the piano and guitar. He and Janet loved to travel to visit friends and new places. He had a passion for his Daylilies and spent time landscaping his yard. He was strong in his faith and attended service regularly and was an Elder at Faith Presbyterian Church.
Nothing delighted Tony more than the birth of his daughter Jacquelyn. He taught her to fish, danced with her at ballet recitals, and refereed her swim meets. Tony proudly walked her down the aisle to join her wonderful husband Chris and was alongside them for the births of his grandchildren. He was excited to attend all of the same activities this time as ‘BooDaddy’.
Tony is preceded in death by his father Ralph H. Traylor and his mother Jane L. Sarabia.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet L. Traylor, his daughter Jacquelyn Gonzalez and her husband Chris Gonzalez and their children Kinley and Connor Gonzalez, his faithful labradoodle Sam, his sister Tonya Penk and her husband Brad Penk, many nieces, nephews, and friends he considered family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9th, 2025 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3900 N Main St, Baytown, Tx 77521. Visitation with the family will be from 11am-12pm with service following at 12pm.
