John Lynn Walker was born March 22, 1935 to Eugenia Hunt Walker and Harry Paxton Walker in Keystone, West Virginia; he passed through this life on August 24, 2024 in Seabrook Texas at the age of 89. John went on to Concord College in Athens, WV and graduated with a BS in Business Administration (emphasis on accounting). He was on the Dean’s List, and Blue Key Men’s Honorary Fraternity, Student Activities Committee Future Business Leaders Club and Vice President of National Social Fraternity. While attending college, he married his high-school sweetheart, Janice Rector (predeceased him April 1990) on September 12, 1953 and again on January 15, 1954 in Welch, West Virginia where they started their family. After graduating, John had a long successful career with DuPont as well as various DuPont affiliates with whom he contracted and transferred across the country through the years.
John was a God-fearing man, devoted son, husband, father and loyal friend. He took his relationship with the Good Lord seriously and instilled the love of Jesus into his children by teaching them the Lord’s Prayer as soon as they were old enough to remember and understand.
As a young man, John was involved in local little league sports with four (4) of his children. John was an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Ohio State Buckeyes and was known to support the LSU Tigers when his youngest was in the room! During his professional career, John was involved with the Ingleside Chamber of Commerce acting as its President and Member of the Board of Directors, as well as a Member of the Board Directors of the American Subcontractors Association.
John later remarried to Sharon S Burton-Walker who faithfully stood by him through the latter years of his life and is survived by her. John was blessed with six (6) grandchildren, three (3) step-grandchildren, and seventeen (17) great-grandchildren. A celebration of John’s life is planned at Pinnacle Rock, West Virginia at a date to be determined in Spring 2025.
Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom the power and glory for ever and ever. In the name of your Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
Thank you Daddy we love and miss you. .
