Joanna McDaniel Henry

June 23, 1930– August 14, 2026

Jan McDaniel Henry went to her eternal home on August 14, 2026, at the age of 96, at her home in Pearland, Texas. She was born in Mangum, Oklahoma to Patrick and Irene Collins as a sister to her older brother, Bill. She married Victor Eugene McDaniel in September 1950. They had 3 children:

Thomas McDaniel (wife Suzanne), Debra McDaniel Ridder (husband Ronald), and Mickey McDaniel (wife Carol). Later she married John David Henry and was blessed to add stepson David Henry (wife Holly), and stepdaughter Ann Bastek (husband Stan) and their dear children.

She was the loving grandmother to Kelli Marchbanks (husband Trey), Kimberly Gorman (husband Chad), Katie Ridder (Eric and Ariel), Christopher Ridder (wife Jordan),

Anna Claborn (husband Camron), and Kirk McDaniel (wife Kaylan). She was a proud great-grandmother to Drew and Garrett Marchbanks, Shelby, Hayden, and Cole Gorman, Hadley, Aiden, and Jensen Ridder, and Emma, Hayden, and Grayson Claborn.

Jan graduated from John Reagan High School and then attended Abilene Christian College. She devoted her early years of marriage to raising her young children. In 1965, she and Gene started VIP Travel in Pasadena, Texas, where they lived. She worked there as a group sales manager and bookkeeper until the business was sold in 1997. She loved to travel. Some of her highlights were flying aboard the Concorde, sailing on the QE2, and leading groups to shop in Hong Kong and Seoul, South Korea. She also arranged special family trips to Disney World, Branson, skiing in Colorado, and a cruise to Alaska.

She was an active member at Burke Road Church of Christ for many years. After her move to Pearland, she attended and supported Peace Church in Pearland.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Peace Church in Pearland on August 29th at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jan’s honor to Impact Houston Church of Christ.
