8/1/1945 – 6/4/2025
Gary Lynn Davis age 79, of League City, TX, passed away unexpectedly on 6/4/2025 while receiving care at his dialysis clinic. He lived a full and loving life and is dearly missed by all who knew him.
Born on August 1, 1945 in Blytheville, AR, Gary was the son of Leon and Ruby Williams Davis. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a BS in Mathematics and a Minor in Physics, and did 36 hours of post graduate work in Business Administration and Computer Science at the University of Houston CLC.
Gary married Darlene Davis in 1969, together they had three children. After living briefly in Virginia and Maryland, the family moved to Texas, which they still call home. While their friendship lasted, the marriage ended in divorce. In 1985 Gary married Teresa VanLandingham Flanders, his soulmate and the love of his life. He loved Terry’s daughters as his own, and was a strong and loving presence in all 5 of his children’s lives.
Gary held many roles over the years—both professionally and personally. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971, carrying that sense of duty and strength throughout his life. He worked as an Engineer and Systems Analyst in the early years of the Computer Industry before moving into Sales and Management, and eventually founding Texas Frontier Technologies. In 2006, he began a second career, completing an Alternative Teacher Certification Program. He was proud to share his passion for Physics, Chemistry and STEM/Engineering with High School students in the Pasadena School District, where he worked until retirement. He loved his students and fellow teachers, changed many lives and is remembered fondly by the PISD Community.
Gary was thoughtful and curious, a life-long learner, and a man of deep integrity. He was a HAM radio operator, a tinkerer, and an avid reader, but his favorite activity was being with Terry and seeing their children and grandchildren flourish.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife Terry, his children Renee Davis Meyer (Matt), Melody Flanders Coats (Chad), Khymberly Davis Booth (Brandon), Chelsea Flanders Houghton, and Michael Davis (Lesli), 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; His siblings, Leon David Davis, Jr. (Margie), Catherine Davis Robinson (Rob), Stephen Davis (Norma) and Jenny Davis Valek (Bob), along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Henry (Hank) Davis and his sisters Becky Davis and Patty Davis Winfree.
Gary leaves behind a legacy of humor, humble intelligence, and unconditional love. He is deeply loved and terribly missed, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were loved by him.
A Celebration of Life is planned for July 26, 2025 at 3pm at Gateway Community Church (760 Clear Lake City Boulevard, Webster, TX).
