She was born to Senovia Romero Garza and Thomas Idrogo on October 29, 1954, in Houston, Texas. Growing up as the fourth of six children, Diana’s childhood was marked by a lighthearted piece of family history—her first name was chosen after actress Deana Durbin, as all her siblings were named after actresses.
Diana grew up during a time of immense cultural change and significant milestones in our country's history. Yet, amidst the shifting world around her, she remained an absolute constant—a steady, anchoring presence for everyone in her life, fueled by an unwavering love for her family.
An intelligent and dedicated woman, Diana earned an Associate of Applied Science degree and spent many years serving as a skilled legal secretary and paralegal. Her career later transformed into a profound ministry when she joined the Medical Examiner’s office as an intake and family outreach coordinator. In this tender role, she counseled grieving families during their darkest hours, gently guiding them to lean on God for understanding. Countless lives found deep solace and renewed faith in her words. Diana’s spiritual gifts naturally led her to her next chapter, serving as the secretary to the Pastor at Cokesbury Church before stepping into a well-deserved retirement in 2010.
In her free time, she found immense joy in crafting beautiful jewelry, dedicating herself fully to her role as a wife and mother, and actively serving her church community across eight different ministries—holding a particularly special place in her heart for the students at summer camp.
Though raised Catholic, Diana’s faith journey beautifully evolved when she began attending New Hope Church in the early 2000s, where her deep Christian faith became the true cornerstone of her life. Her absolute passion was people. She possessed a rare, intentional gift for listening to others' hearts, offering gentle wisdom, and constantly pointing those around her toward the love of God. Her life became a vibrant beacon that drew others closer to Him, blossoming fully within her beloved church community. One of her proudest milestones was gently leading her cherished husband, Ben, to God, culminating in the beautiful moment they were re-baptized together at New Hope Church. As the spiritual heartbeat of her home, Diana passionately inspired her children to walk in the same faith, leaving behind a lasting legacy of lives forever changed by her devotion to the Lord.
Diana is preceded in death by her parents, Senovia and Thomas, and her beloved sisters, Olivia and Yvonne.
Her legacy of faith, steadiness, and love lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ben Brown; her daughters, Melisa Boyd (husband Joe Boyd) and Sara (spouse Marisa Longoria); her siblings, Veronica, Doreen, and Thomas Jr.; her five grandchildren, Mathena, Eric, Shelby, Bailey, and her namesake, Diana; and her two great-grandchildren, Soren and Harrison.
Diana’s legacy lives on in every life she touched, every prayer she answered, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Church located at 3640 County Rd 58, Manvel, RX 77578.
“ In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to New Hope’s Children’s Ministry, specifically to help provide a child with the opportunity to attend summer camp. Diana was deeply passionate about supporting the Children’s Ministry and helping children experience the love and joy of Christ.
