Anthony Wayne Combs (Tony) of Bayou Vista, Texas left us peacefully on September 5, 2023 after a hard fought battle against cancer. Born November 2, 1950, in Middletown, Ohio, Tony was 73 years old at the time of his death. His whole life was dedicated to taking care of his family.
Tony served our country proudly as a Sergeant in The United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era as Marine-Ground Task Force Support. Before his Honorable discharge in 1974, Tony earned a Rifle Marksman Badge, a National Defense Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Tony worked as a Railroad Engineer most of his life and owned his own Track Maintenance Company “Track Welder” in the 90’s working in several different capacities on the railroad.
Tony will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, distinct laugh, and his love for his family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Linda (Hisle) Combs and Mother Malissie Shockey. He leaves behind his loving wife of 12 years, Teresa (DeRocher) Combs; his three sons; Shawn (Amy) Eakins; Eric (Heather) Eakins, and Todd Combs; daughters, Angela (Greg) Bryant; Tiffany (Rich) Routine. Sisters; Pat (John) Brewer, Veronica Schneider, Helen (Dave) Corbin. Brothers; Carl Combs, Steve Combs. He will also be greatly missed by his 12 grandchildren; David Kirk, Kayla Kirk, Devin Morton, Elisabeth (Corey) Wenschhof, Jacob Eakins, Luke Eakins, Madeline Zinn, Delaney Zinn, Alexander (Abbey) Eakins, Addison Eakins, Destiney Combs, Conner Monroe; two great grandchildren Tilly and Archer, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome visitors to a Celebration of Life Ceremony in Pennsylvania at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Tony’s name to the former Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home (Ohio Veterans Children’s Home), which is now a museum. This institution provided a home and support for Tony through part of his childhood.
