She was born on December 5, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Samuel Salvatore Solo and Mary Theresa (Oddo) Solo. In April 1948, she married Roy Suiter Jr., with whom she shared six children before his passing in 1971. She later married Donald Armintrout in 1978, who preceded her in death in 1983. In December 1987, Ginny found love again with John “Shelley” Robertson, gaining four cherished stepchildren whom she loved as her own.
Ginny and Shelley cherished their blended family of nine children, who are spread across the United States in Missouri, Colorado, California, Hawaii, Texas, Nevada, and Arizona. Together, they were blessed with 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A passionate traveler, Ginny shared a lifetime of adventures with her beloved Shelley, exploring every continent and making countless memories along the way. They found great joy in visiting their children and grandchildren, embarking on cruises, and traveling with friends—often taking advantage of Shelley’s military retirement benefits to see the world.
Ginny’s love for family was most evident in her kitchen, where she found joy in cooking for her large family, extended relatives, and dear friends, bringing everyone together through the warmth of food and tradition.
Ginny found immense joy in bringing happiness to those around her. She had a gift for bringing people together, often hosting lively gatherings filled with love, laughter, and the cherished flavors of her Sicilian heritage. Her passion for cooking and sharing traditional Italian meals reflected her generous spirit.
A talented and enthusiastic dancer, she found great joy in attending local dances through church and community events, where her warmth and charm made her a beloved friend to many. It was at one of these gatherings that she met the love of her life, Shelley, beginning a beautiful journey together.
Ginny was a devoted member of St. John Neumann Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Catechist, and a dedicated volunteer in the parish office and gift shop. She lived a life rooted in faith, leading with love, kindness, compassion, and tolerance. Her unwavering Christian values were evident in the way she spread light and love to all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John “Shelley” Robertson; her stepchildren, Shawna Coffman (Kevin), Peter Robertson (Angie), and Phillip Robertson (Jill); and her children, Roy Suiter (Peggi), Gary Suiter (Fran), Richard L. Suiter, Dianne Laird (Ron), Janette Suiter, and Suzanne Taves (William).
Ginny’s legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Linzi Schwartz (Steve), Julia Smith (Jamie), Elizabeth Suiter, Richard S. Suiter, Jenny Lee Ploch (Matthew), Ronald Laird Jr., Elise Galperin (Denis), Leah Gouker, Thor Gouker, Darcy Vines, John Taves, Kristine Virginia Taves, Katherine Taves, Sheldon Shaw (Jesse), Shea Coffman, Kelsie Town (Dylan), Kyle Coffman (Courtney), Kylie Robertson, Ethan Robertson and Chloe Robertson. as well as her 21 treasured great-grandchildren.
