Sherry Ann France, 77, of Las Vegas, NV passed away on November 12th, 2022 after several weeks of fighting to return to health. She appreciated many visits from friends and family during her final days and her son Adam was by her side as she passed.
Sherry was born on December 31, 1944, to Ruth and Nathan Nigberg in Los Angeles, CA. She spoke fondly of walking to the library after school each week to find a newly written adventure. Sherry was quite a wordsmith, a fierce scrabble player who none of her kids or grandkids could beat!
After graduating high school Sherry went to beauty school and became a hairdresser. Eventually, she attended court reporting school and after a time working as a court reporter, she used her knowledge of the law and impeccable grammar to become a sagacious legal secretary. She found a career as a legal secretary at several prestigious law firms for the next several decades.
In 1974 when Sherry had her only child, Adam, she was overjoyed to be a mother! She loved taking her son to experience life, adventures to the zoo were their favorite as well as spending time at parks, especially with the geese. She exposed him to the cuisines of the world, both through her own cooking and favorite restaurants in the LA area. She was happy to share her wealth of useful tips and tricks to make tasks easier and has passed on her love of cooking and baking to her family.
Los Angeles was home for most of Sherry’s life, but she also spent time living in San Diego, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada. She followed Adam and his family to Idaho for a time after becoming a Grandma, by far her favorite title! She loved reading, playing, crafting, and spending time with her two grandchildren. She was an expert seamstress and art enthusiast. She learned many different art mediums over her lifetime. Creating beautiful pieces of painting on silk, pottery, stained glass, quilting, and more. Her hand-crafted gifts are treasured by her family and friends.
Sherry is survived by her son Adam, sister Naomi Paul, grandchildren Nathan and Gabrielle, nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The family will plan a Celebration of Life in the new year, in lieu of flowers consider a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
