Sheila Spargo

Sheila Spargo, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, Nevada died on May 22, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born in Chicago, Il to Harold and Jean Blumenthal on February 18, 1935. Sheila went to Stanford University and studied abroad in Switzerland. Sheila met the love of her life, Jack, in Sun Valley, Idaho, while she was skiing. She and Jack eloped to Las Vegas on July 25, 1957, in a little chapel on the Strip where they pulled a passerby from the street to be their witness. After the wedding, off to California they went to start a family. The happy couple moved back to Las Vegas in 1970 with their 3 children, where Sheila was an artist and a homemaker.

Sheila had a full life as a world traveler, avid golfer, and a very talented watercolorist. She became part of the Nevada Watercolor Society where she made many friends and enjoyed belonging to such a prestigious community. She took part in various art shows in the Las Vegas valley where she received numerous awards for her watercolor paintings.

Sheila volunteered her time and taught art to children who were being homeschooled. The children flourished in art under her tutelage. She belonged to numerous golf groups where she learned, had fun, and was enjoyed by all. Sheila was an amazing skier and tennis player.

During her travels, Sheila always brought her painting supplies so she could memorialize her trips with family and friends. These paintings were then made into lovely books for all to enjoy.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Jack, her children, Sharon Spargo-Jones and her partner Greg, John Spargo and his wife Kirsten, and Scott Spargo and his wife Anne; her grandchildren, Samuel Spargo and his wife Alabama, and Page Spargo and her partner Aaron; her soon to be born great granddaughter, Sofia Amara Spargo; and her brother Jeffrey Blumenthal. She is preceded in death by her brother David Blumenthal and her parents.
