Roy graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He was an X-ray design and development engineer for both Picker-Dunlee (Illinois) and Varian Eimac (Utah). On February 20, 1971 he married Barbara Wolf.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, the ROMEOS, and served as an advisor for the Science Olympian at Keller Middle School. He was also very active in his church community at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church.
His hobbies included hiking with Volksmarch, gardening, camping, cruising, Elder Hostel and boating.
Roy shared his time and talents with everyone. He was a very patient, caring man with good humor. Once he met you, you were his friend. He wished peace to everyone and family meant everything to him. He will be missed by so many.
Roy is survived by his wife of 47 years Barbara Kasten; children Mary Jo, Anna, Martha, Florence, Roy III, Frank, Margaret, Christopher, many refugee foster children; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Evelyn Kasten; his first wife Mary Ann Andrews; sisters Barbara and Mary Lee; brother Donald; and grandson David.
Services will be held at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church 5485 E Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89142 on Wednesday June 20th at 10:00 am.
