Michael David Huggard, 45, passed away on January 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, music, compassion, and unwavering love for his family. Born in Murray, Utah, Michael spent the last four years in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he lived with his parents and continued to fill their home with his humor and his creativity.
Michael earned his CDL and spent years as a long haul truck driver, traveling across the country and experiencing the open road in a way few people ever do. He loved the freedom of the highway, the changing landscapes, and the sense of purpose that came with the work. Those miles on the road became a meaningful chapter of his life, one that reflected his independence, his grit, and his love of adventure.
In 2015, Michael survived a serious accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury. The years that followed were marked by challenges, but also by extraordinary resilience. Even while navigating the effects of his injury, Michael pushed himself to keep learning and growing. One of his proudest accomplishments was completing HVAC school after his accident — a testament to his determination, work ethic, and refusal to let adversity define him.
Michael had a soft spot for every creature that crossed his path. He was known for bringing home strays, offering them food, shelter, and the kind of gentle care that came so naturally to him. Among the many animals he loved, his dog Precious held a special place in his heart. Their bond reflected the depth of his kindness and the comfort he found in caring for others. Animals seemed to sense his enormous heart; they trusted him instantly. That tenderness was one of the many ways his compassion showed itself.
He was happiest on the open road, riding his Harley beneath wide western skies. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his son, David, who was the center of his world. A gifted musician, Michael had a natural talent for singing and taught himself to play the bass guitar—an instrument he made come alive with his own unmistakable style.
Those who knew Michael will remember his quick wit, his playful sense of humor, and the way he could fill a room with laughter over something wonderfully silly he said or did. His warmth, creativity, and ability to make others smile were gifts he shared freely.
Michael is survived by his beloved son, David Michael Huggard; his parents, Donald and Judith Huggard; his siblings, Wendy Huggard, Kimberly Mooney, and Douglas Sles; and his niece, Ollie Shumway. His presence will be deeply missed, but the joy, love, and compassion he brought into the world will continue to echo in the memories he leaves behind.
May he ride on in peace, free beneath endless skies, forever in our hearts. Live To Ride, Ride To Live
