Ken grew up in one of the places he loved most, Hawaii. He loved going to the beach with friends and developed his passion for “ono” food on the islands. It was in Hawaii he began his career in banking doing systems programming and also where he met his future wife, Fern, who also worked at the bank. In 1994, Ken moved to Las Vegas with Fern where he shifted his career to the casino industry as a computer programmer, which is the field he happily retired from in 2011. In his retirement years, he was an avid PGA golf fan, and he would occasionally golf with friends or his son. His other passions in life were cars (especially taking care of his prized 2000 Pontiac Firehawk), showing off his green thumb in his garden, drinking at least 2 cups of coffee each morning while reading the newspaper, and spending time with his dogs that loved to watch TV with him.
Kenneth is survived by wife Fern Fukuyama, son Kealey Fukuyama, sister Elaine Hirohama, brother Spencer Shimai, cousins Linda and Roger Hirota, and Jeannette Ishikawa, nieces Emily Hirohama, Syndy and Sharolyn Shimai, and nephew Scott Hirohama.
