Jeffrey was born on July 24, 1961, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Known for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor, he brought laughter and warmth to everyone around him. He also carried a strong faith in Christianity, which guided him throughout his life's journey.
He was a proud alumnus of the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1988. Following his graduation, Jeffrey launched a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He began his professional journey with McGladrey in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before later relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada to continue his work with the firm. After his time at McGladrey, he transitioned into private business, where he continued to excel as a CPA. Jeffrey later moved to Lubbock, Texas, to further his accounting career before returning home to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2017.
Outside of his professional life, Jeffrey lived for adventure, knowledge, and sports. His love for sports began early, serving as the student manager for the Munich High School basketball teams. He was an avid motorcyclist who loved the freedom of the open road and made many memorable road trips. While living in Minnesota, he took up skydiving—a thrilling hobby he continued long after moving to Las Vegas, ultimately achieving 160 jumps. He loved to read, explore new ideas, and watch auto racing and downhill skiing. Jeffrey was a passionate sports fan who closely followed the University of North Dakota hockey team. While living in Lubbock, Texas, he became a dedicated fan of Patrick Mahomes, cheering him on at Texas Tech and later with the Kansas City Chiefs. He always had an engaging sports news nugget to share with family and friends.
An avid music lover, Jeffrey knew the backgrounds and lyrics of nearly every artist he listened to. He held a special love for Christian music, constantly researching new performers and introducing them to his friends.
Jeffrey was also an animal lover at heart. Throughout his entire life, he almost always had a dog or a cat by his side. Most recently, he shared a very special bond with his cats, Jazzy and Mr. Kitty. They were incredibly important to him and brought immense comfort, companionship, and joy to him.
Above all, Jeffrey loved his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Kari Sip and Kayla Llamas; his three sisters, Judy (Chuck) Dethloff, Jackie Wiens, and Janis (Jim) Hom; as well as eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his best friends, Teri Shimizu, Carolyn Ellis, and Stephanie Pia. Jeffrey will be missed deeply by his family and all his many friends, but he has gone to join those who have gone before him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Wiens, and his mother, Iva Tupa, and one grandchild.
A celebration of life will be announced at a future date. If you wish to make a donation, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jeffrey's memory to either Four Square Neighborhood Church in Henderson, NV or the charity of your choice.
