Jamie Susan Cottam

May 27, 1945 – August 30, 2024

Jamie Susan Cludas Cottam of Henderson, Nevada, passed away the morning of August 30, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Her family surrounded her in love and sadness, grateful to know she was no longer in pain.

She was born May 27, 1945, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Vera Ramsay Cludas and Jack Cludas. She was the second child of this couple, her older sister being Carolyn. All her aunts fought over being able to hold her as she was such a beautiful child.

Her parents divorced and Vera married George B. Farnworth. Jamie had two step-siblings, Gary and Gwen, and eventually three half-siblings, Kathy, Kristy and Valoy. They moved to Boulder City, Nevada, where Jamie attended school.

She met David Cottam and after a brief courtship, they married. They had nine children together in the span of 17 years. After 27 years, they divorced. She never remarried, choosing instead to devote her time and energy to her family.

Jamie was a natural caregiver. She worked in several nursing homes and provided care to anyone who needed it. She was selfless. She would often see a new mother or a struggling relative and immediately head over to clean their house. She always had her children in tow and would put them to the task of cleaning as well. One of the jobs she loved the most was working for the Spilsbury family business as a courier and a receptionist.

She remained devoted to her children. When her daughter, Jennifer, had very premature twins with special needs, a boy and a girl, they moved into her home so she could help take care of them. They were blessed with another daughter 10 months after the twins were born and Jamie loved and cared for all three children.

Jamie was fun, loving, chaotic, and joyful. She had a big laugh and eyes that smiled. She was close to all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved visiting with them. She will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and George Farnworth, Jack Cludas, sisters Carolyn, Kathy, Kristy, Valoy, Gwen and brother Gary. Her son, John Aaron also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Victoria (Wesley) Allison, Pamela (Scott) MacNeille, David Andrew (Tammy) Cottam, Elizabeth (Dan) Bowman, Justin Cottam, Jennifer (Hernan) Sandoval, Melody (Dave) Edison and Samantha (Robert) Barth. Her grandchildren are Becky and John; Nathan, Brad, Adam, Doug and Shanna; Melissa, Alysha, Kimberlee and Hunter; Amber, Alex, Aaron, Thomas, Brian and Jesse; Mark and Paul; Tristan, Jocelyn and Jade; Olivia, Jason, and Penny; Gavin and Gabriel. Her great-grandchildren are Theodore; Ollie, Brianna and Liam, Dominick, Jayden, Brayden and Jaxson, Connor, Ryleigh, Kyleigh and Jameson, Maddison, Stettsen and Theodore; Leo.

Her services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 303 Cholla Street in Henderson, NV. Family visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow.
