Helene Ann Mulligan (nee Lev) passed away peacefully in her Summerlin home on October 31, 2018. She was 85 years young. Helene was a dedicated wife, mother and educator who traveled extensively both for work and pleasure. Those who knew her will long remember her big smile and friendly demeanor. She had an adventurous nature and embraced her days with a joie de vivre. She will be greatly missed.
Helene grew up in Brooklyn and her love of New York never faded. She went on to live in several places across the country primarily in Ventura, California where she raised her four children, and in Las Vegas, Nevada where she spent the last 22 years of her life happily married to Dr. Andrew Mulligan.
Her education consisted of Bachelor’s Degrees from the City University of New York and LSU, and Master’s degrees in Education from UC Berkeley and Childhood Psychology from Long Island University. Her work included many years of teaching at both high school and college level and she was a founding professor at Oxnard College (California State College- Channel Islands). She also taught and lectured extensively in China and Thailand.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Andrew Mulligan, her children Nick Corley, Matt Corley, and Joan Corley, a daughter-in-law, 3 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 step great-granddaughters, and several wonderful stepchildren. Her youngest son John preceded her in death.
