After a prolonged illness, Fraser passed from this world the morning of Tuesday, September 25, 2018, in his 94th year in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fraser was born August 7, 1925 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. At age 17 1/2 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Basic flying training started on RCAF Tiger Moth, a bi-plane, then a Harvard where he practiced bombing and gunnery as he received his pilot wings. At age 20 he joined (KLM) Royal Dutch Airlines. He became a Captain at the age of 22, flying DC-3 and as co-pilot on DC-4 to most of the islands in the West Indies and South America. He flew the Convair 340 & 440 throughout most of Europe and as co-pilot on DC-6 into the middle east countries, U.S. and South America. He then returned to Canada flying corporate aircraft F-27 Turbo Prop, HS-125, including as Chief Pilot for 10 years with Churchill Falls, Labrador. He was later transferred to San Francisco flying HS-125 and co-pilot of Gulfstream G-2. Fraser retired from aviation after 22,500 hours and 42 years in the air, having flown to 48 countries. Fraser leaves his wonderful wife of thirty-nine years, Sonia, his son Donald Acheson (Jane Robbins) and daughter Jenny Acheson (Serge Cardinal), step-daughters Valerie Powroznyk and Carla Powroznyk, grandchildren Megan Cardinal, James Cardinal, Ryan Wood and Catherine Wood. Fraser was preceded in death by his son, Gary Acheson. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle soul and positive outlook, and great sense of humor. Please contact the family for service details.
