Donald graduated from Hilo High school in Hilo, HI in 1954. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. While stationed in Germany he met David Kimura, from Honolulu, and they became life-long friends. He worked for NCR and Xerox as a Cost Estimator. In both California and Hawaii he worked as a Safety Engineer for an Insurance Company. He owned a Hawaiian Retail Gift Shop called Styles of Hawaii.
Donald was a Lifetime member with the Gardena Nisei VFW Post 1961 where he served as adjutant, trustee, chaplain and Sr. Vice commander and Commander of the Fourth District Nisei Memorial Post. He was instrumental in starting the first post Luau.
He enjoyed playing Bridge, Sudoku, and Black-Jack at The Cal. He prepared gourds for hula dancers as well as ornamental ones for family, friends, and the gift shop.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dawn Kealoha; son Dean Lancaster Kealoha; daughters Daneta Kealoha-Giordano, Donna Rae Kealoha; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Alika Kanani Lancaster; sisters Mary Kalauli and Sarah Capone.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Alice Aumua and Martha Kamohai; and his brother James K. Lancaster
There will be a Celebration of Donald’s Life with family and friends.
