Ward Blaine Browning Jr., 95, of 1550 Killingsworth Way, The Villages, Florida, went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospice House, The Villages, Florida. He was born February 12, 1922 in Ashland Kentucky. Ward earned his B.A. in Electrical Engineering and later his M.A. from Cornell University. He served in the Army during WWII from 1941-1945 stationed in Saipan and Okinawa where he met his first wife, Nancy Erwin Browning (deceased).
Ward worked for ARMCO (AK) Steel corporation for 36 years becoming Chief of Engineering and later Vice President of Raw Materials and Purchasing and Mining and Material Resources. Upon retirement, he moved to Keowee Key, South Carolina near Clemson and later to The Villages in Florida.
He was an accomplished woodworker who made fine furniture and an avid golfer. He was also a great storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor.
Ward was the beloved son of Ward Blaine Browning Sr. (deceased) and his mother, Blanche Hopewell Browning (deceased). He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Swank Browning.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Susan Browning Cooper (Bob), son, William Blaine Browning (SueAnne), and step-daughter, Kathie Braun (Jim). Known as “Bud” to his grandchildren, he is also survived by: Naomi Browning Black, Allison Cooper Davis, Elizabeth Cooper NcNutt, Jesse Browning, Seth Browning, Andrew Cooper, Zachary Browning, Lindsay Braun Walters, Emily Braun, and Danny Braun, and his 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service, celebration of life, and interment will be held at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, Clemson, South Carolina where Ward was a member and served as the Head of the Building Committee for their new sanctuary and addition. Date and time will be forthcoming.
