Robert Thomas Schofield, 94, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Lady Lake, Florida. Born on July 15, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, faith, and a lifelong love of sports.
Bob was the beloved husband of Patricia Irene Schofield (née Burns), his teenage sweetheart and wife of 59 years until her passing. Together they built a strong and loving family, raising six children whom they adored: Robert Thomas Schofield Jr., Patricia McKinley, Thomas Robert Schofield, Timothy Michael Schofield, Michael Timothy Schofield, and Judith Ann Schofield, as well as 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bob is survived by two sisters Alice Kradzinski and Joan Robertson.
A proud Philadelphian by birth and spirit, Bob carried his hometown pride with him throughout his life. He was an avid sports enthusiast from a young age and remained passionate about athletics well into his later years. Whether playing baseball and softball in his youth or enjoying rounds of golf and games of bowling as he grew older, Bob’s competitive nature shone through in every match. He was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and rarely missed a pitch. This year brought him special joy as he celebrated the Super Bowl victory of his cherished Eagles.
Despite losing his Father at age 7 and his Mother at age 16, Bob’s dedication to family and work ethic made him an excellent role model for his family. He spent much of his career at General Electric, rising through the ranks into a management position due to his intelligence and integrity. When the union was on strike, our dad worked three jobs sweeping floors, walking the picket line, and loading food onto airplanes to support his family. When the factory in Philadelphia closed, GE asked if he wanted to go to school to be an electrical engineer. Dad learned and spent the end of his career working on large circuit breakers around the east coast including the casinos in Atlantic City and the Peach Bottom Nuclear plant.
Bob’s sense of humor was one of his most enduring qualities. Always ready with a joke or a warm smile, he brought laughter to those around him—family members, friends, and even strangers he met in daily life. His light hearted spirit made him a joy to be around and left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered.
Faith played an important role in Bob’s life. He was a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Aston Pennsylvania and more recently of St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Lady Lake, Florida, where he found community and spiritual fulfillment.
Above all else, Bob was a loving husband and father who placed family at the center of his world. His legacy lives on through the lives of his children and the many memories they shared together.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter, love, and loyalty for generations to come.
A funeral mass will be held 8:30 am on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Pl, Lady Lake, FL 32159.
