Michael F. Jordan of Oxford FL passed away on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at the age of 82. Michael was born on December 27, 1942 in The Bronx, NY to Denis J. Jordan and Johanna Hayes Jordan. He was the youngest of six children. At the age of two, Michael’s mother passed away in 1945. In 1947 his father married Bridget Winters Hefferon, a widow with four children. She lovingly raised Michael, and he always referred to her as Mom.
In March 1960 Michael enlisted into the Marine Corps, and served until honorably discharged in April 1964. Michael served on the USS Canberra, which was part of the Cuban Missile Crisis Blockade in October 1962.
After honorable discharge from service, Michael graduated the NYC Transit PD academy, and he was a NYCTA PO from February 1966 to April 1977. During that time, Michael married Patricia Shine, and had his first son, Christopher Michael. After retirement, Michael moved to Florida with his second wife Connie Hestdalen, and had a second son, Denis Michael. Michael lived in Miami, FL from 1979 to 2022, at which time he moved to The Villages, Florida.
During his lifetime Michael was known as a fun-loving man, who enjoyed nightclubs and dancing. He was thrilled to have inaugural season tickets for the Florida Marlins, bragged about his golf handicap and hole-in-one, and loved his trips to casinos in San Juan, Connecticut, Nevada and Florida.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents (1981), his infant brother Cornelius (1931), two brothers and sisters-in-law, James P. (Anna Feeney), Dennis J. (Helen Lynch), sister and brother-in-law Josephine Fitzgerald (Christopher), brother-in-law Jack Sexton (Eileen), and nephew Dennis J. Jordan.
Michael is survived by his sister Eileen Sexton, sons Christopher M. (Bridgett) and Denis M., grandson Brendan M. (Corinne), granddaughter Mariah. He was thrilled when Brendan made him a great-grandfather of Leon M. Jordan (infant).
