Mary (known as Beth) was born in Jacksonville, IL October 27, 1945 and went to Heaven January 12, 2025 in Clermont, FL. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Thomas and is survived by her husband John Thomas; her daughter Cynthia Semmen (spouse Kent); her grandsons Zachary Thomas (spouse Leah), John Semmen and Jared Semmen; her granddaughters Kendra Petresky (spouse Tyler, son Benjamin), Chloe Semmen, Kara Semmen and Cambria Semmen; her brothers David Injerd (spouse Sharman), Raymond Injerd (spouse LeTaye), William Injerd (spouse Kathi) and Wesley Injerd (spouse Tomiko).
Beth completed Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse in 1966. Shortly thereafter she joined the United States Air Force and served until her daughter was born. Subsequent to that she stayed active as a labor and delivery nurse and, as she mentioned, brought hundreds of new babies into the world over her 40 years of service as an RN.
Beth battled cancer for five years. But, far from being deterred from compassionate caring, she spent her time encouraging and helping others that were experiencing the same challenges in their life. She will be remembered as a caring, kind, selfless helper to any who needed encouragement, prayer or just an understanding listener.
Her family that included her daughter and her grandchildren, her brother, nephew, many cousins and a great many friends celebrated her life on January 18, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, Haines City, FL. Many of those caring people travelled a long distance to express their love for this wonderful lady, Mary Elizabeth Thomas. Donations in her honor can be made to Life Choice Pregnancy Center, 235 E. Central Ave., Winter Haven, FL 33880.
