I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Major Earle Johnson. His was a life well lived, intentional, focused and purposeful, never .missing an opportunity to mentor others wherever he found or interacted with them. I will always be grateful for the mentorship I received from him as a young cadet, and much of the bearing that I carry today is a testament of the impact that he had on my life.

Rest well Major. I salute you one last time.

The volunteer Dominica Defense Force was established in 1966, upgraded to Full Time in 1975 and formally disbanded on March 16, 1981.

Indicative of the deep respect and reverence Major Johson had for our beloved and iconic bandmaster of the Dominica Government Band.

With profound respect and gratitude, we bid farewell to our Commandant Major L.E. Johnson —a paragon of mentorship, perseverance, innovation, and vision. Your legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of the Dominica Cadet Corps, an institution that for over a century has stood as a beacon of discipline, leadership, and nation-building among Dominica’s youth.

Through your example, you instilled in generations the Corps’ noble creed: “Duty, Honour, Country.” You led with unwavering discipline and pride, shaping young cadets into principled leaders and responsible citizens, equipped to serve their country with distinction. Your commitment to fostering unity, resilience, and moral character has left an indelible mark on the organization and the nation at large. “Carry On Smartly” Rest in Eternal Peace

It  is with profound  regret  that we received the news of the passing of our beloved Dominica Cadet Corps commandant Major Earle Johnson. He  rendered his final salute at 4 a.m. this morning,  April 14  2025.

He led us well and was an outstanding Dominica Grammar School  cadet. Via his work as Director of the Regional Youth Camp at Londonderry which taught vocational skills to a generation of Dominicans, and his pioneering leadership of the Dominica Rotary Club he was truly a nation builder. His business enterprise efforts at Golden Fried Chicken, Toy World and Jaws Ice Cream  Company brought joy and pride to our island community. 
 

God bless him,  his wife Heather Jess,  children Karlene, Clifton, Jess and the others,  to include his stepdaughter Nadine  family members, friends and the cadets and soldiers who served with him


Old cadets never die. They just fade away. May God welcome him into glory. Job well done! 

We shall remember him.
