Judie is survived by her four sons: Philip Williams, Glen Williams, Eric Williams, and Eliot Williams; her three grandchildren: Samantha Williams, Ryan Williams, and Sean Williams: and her sister: Linda Sturm. She reunites at last with late husband, Gerald Conley, in Heaven, along with other family and friends. Together, they will no doubt sit, talk, and laugh.
On August 22, 1941, Judie was born in Portland, Maine. She lived in California and Florida for a time, but Maine was always her home. Her life’s passion was to help others, which is evident in her career. As a nurse, she often worked as much as possible to ensure she touched the lives of as many people as possible. Her generosity and caring nature extended into her personal life as well. Whether it was helping to send her grandchildren to summer camp or buying a camp on a lake with a mind to have room for her grandkids and family to visit and stay, Judie certainly made every effort to remain magnanimous to family and strangers alike. Even after retiring, right up until the end, Judie volunteered and worked to help others, caring for them as a nurse and sympathetic ear.
The outdoors factored into Judie’s everyday life. She lounged in the sun whenever possible; making Florida the perfect place to go once she retired. In Maine, the winter did not deter her. She loved the water, and if she could not swim, she used what winter provided: ice. She shared her love of ice skating with her granddaughter, just as she shared her love of nature with all her grandkids, making available to them her lake-laden backyard. Despite her passing from the physical world, it warms her family’s hearts to know she can bask in the glory of the sun and wade into the waters of the world beyond.
Judie is missed, and will continue to be missed, by her family. Buddha said, “Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Judie graced us all with shared happiness; she lit many candles, so she cannot be forgotten.
