James Harold Rose was born on October 11, 1952 in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He departed this life on Saturday, April 5th at the University of Florida Hospital in The Villages, Florida. "Jim" was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Rose and Kathleen Goetz Rose, his brother Michael and his sister Joan Rose Lane. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kandy (Fancher) of Ocala, his sisters: Gloria Shumate, Lakeland, Margaret Barrett, Pompano Beach, Mary Rattray, Pompano Beach, brother Albert, Pompano Beach, many nieces and nephews, dear friends and extended family throughout the country and his devoted Australian Shepherd Meggie.
Jim moved to Pompano Beach in 1956. He joined the Marine Corps in 1970 and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his discharge in 1974, he began working as a carpenter in concrete form work and worked his way up to be a layout man in high-rise construction. Jim was a quiet, kind and generous man with a quick wit and an avid fisherman. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling, always happy for the next adventure.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War post 4493 where he had many friends and who Kandy is very grateful to for the love, support and advice. She would also like to thank Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care and The Neptune Society for their kindness and compassionate care to Jim and to her.
A military honor service at Bushnell National Cemetery will be held on May 1 at 1:00pm followed by a celebration of Jim's life back at the VFW Post 4493 in Candler Florida.
