Henry Johnson Shirley Jr.

John Shirley, 76, of The Villages, FL., passed away on May 4, 2019 at The Villages Regional Hospital. He leaves behind his loving wife and combined family of 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He was born and raised in Indiana and served in the Airforce. John had a successful career in HVAC; where his knowledge and expertise was well-respected among his peers. John was a member of Brookside Masonic Lodge 720, Indianapolis, IN; Murat Shrine and Murat Shrine Band, Indianapolis, IN, where he played trumpet for 25 years; and R.O.J. Court 15, Indianapolis, IN. After moving to Florida, he continued his involvement where he was a charter member of The Villages Shrine Club; President of The Villages Shrine Club Golf League; charter member of The Villages New Horizons Band; member of The Villages Sunshine Strollers; and member of The Villages Billiken Club. He loved to hear people’s stories and connected to them in a genuine way; he never met a conversation he didn’t like! John will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and sense of humor; he always had a huge smile on his face and a laugh that came from his heart. Interment will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial gifts be donated to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
