Dave Engelbrecht, 83, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2017 in The Villages, FL. after a 3 year battle with cancer. Born in Union City, NJ, he excelled in football and track. He was a Korean War veteran. Dave had a successful career in the housewares industry as National Sales Manager for several companies. After retiring, he started a painting business. In 2004, Dave and his wife moved to The Villages where he was known as “Dave the Painter”. Through his business, he met many people who became friends. Dave loved The Villages lifestyle including the Classic Car Shows, listening to music at the Towne Squares and entertaining his family and friends. An avid New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox fan, he was proud to wear his many hats showing his loyalty. He was a proud grandfather to his 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and was known as “Grampy”. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Linda, his children Ron & Gina Engelbrecht of W. Springfield, MA (Nick & Ashley), Susan Pease, South Hadley, MA (Daniel & Rachel), David & Nancy Engelbrecht, Granby, MA (Loryn & Brielle) and Howard & Sophia Engelbrecht, Springfield, MA (Jessica & Aeryk). Stepchildren include Curt & Karie Bedford of Hockessin, DE (Cole, Alexis, Marcy & Charlie), Chuck & Natalie Bedford, Newark, DE (Nadia & Owen) and Jason & Jenn Bedford of Newark, DE (Tyler & Adalyn). An all around great guy, Dave will be missed by his family and friends who’s memory of him will always bring a smile to their faces. A Celebration of His Life will be at a later date.
