A carpenter by trade, Pete was also adept at many other aspects of life. He was an accomplished welder, master stained glass artist, and excelled at restoring classic cars, many of which were on display the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Pete was born on December 1st 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY but grew up in Culver City, CA during the wonder years of the wonder years of the 1950's. As a child, Pete spent many days playing in the famed lot of the MGM motion picture studios and with his dashing good looks most certainly could have been a leading man in many box office hits. Pete was a patriot who loved his country and in 1961 he dedicated the next 4 years of his life as a member of the United States Navy where he served onboard the USS Coral Sea as a member of the aircraft carrier flight crew. Soon after his departure from the Navy in 1965, Pete met the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" Peterson. Together they created 57 years of cherished memories.
Their journey together began in 1966 when they became Mr. and Mrs. Robert "Pete" Martin. The newlywed couple soon found themselves blessed with two sons, John and Jim, and two daughters Julie (Martin-Warnick) and Jennifer (Kim). In 1973 they moved their young family to Pat's hometown of Anaconda, Montana where their third daughter Jolynn (Coleman) would be born. In 1986 Pete saw an opportunity and the family moved to Las Vegas, NV.
Pete and Pat loved traveling and visiting national parks and monuments throughout the country. Together they would see most of what this wonderful country has to offer. In 2004 Pete retired and the couple decided to make their favorite state of Tennessee their home.
Pete worked hard and never stopped. He made sure his family was not just comfortable but happy. It was rare to see Pete in public without his faithful chihuahua named Montana at his side. He showed his children, grandchildren (13), and great grandchildren (14) how to be kind, loving, compassionate and independent. Most of all, Pete exemplified what it means to be an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was our light, he was our rock, he was our everything.
Good night, God bless, sweet dreams, we love you!
