Born on February 14, 1943, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Sibby and Bennie Muniz, Olivia grew up surrounded by faith and family. She received her first communion at San Felipe de Neri Church in Albuquerque, a memory she held dear. Her family later relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she graduated from Our Lady of Loretto High School in 1960.
She married on December 9, 1961 and raised four children. After 28 year of marriage she divorced, resumed her maiden name and continued to raise her family with unwavering strength and love.
Early in her career, Olivia worked in accounts receivable but later found her true calling as a Credentialing Specialist, a role she embraced with dedication until retirement.
Olivia had many creative passions—she was an avid crocheter, knitter, and seamstress. She lovingly crochet and knitted blankets for her family over the years. Later in life, she discovered a new joy in painting pottery at her favorite local spot, Foothills Pottery in Maryville, TN.
Those who knew Olivia will remember her generous heart, uplifting spirit, and boundless love. Her encouragement was unmatched, her laugh infectious, and her smile unforgettable. She was the kind of person who would gladly give her last dollar to help someone in need.
She is survived by her sisters, Lynn and Marcela; daughters Marilyn, Emily, and Bridgit; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, Sibby and Bennie Muniz, and her beloved son, Angel Rene Moncada Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 24th at 2:00 PM EDT at The Dwelling Place, 2146 Big Springs Rd, Maryville, TN. A simultaneous West Coast service will be held at 11:00 AM PDT in California for those unable to travel. Livestream details will be shared on Olivia’s Facebook page as the date approaches.
