She spent her career as a banker, interior decorator and government administrator for the city of Port St Lucie, FL where she met her soulmate, Henry “Hank” Kawa.
She and Hank married in 2007 and in 2012 they retired to the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Hank predeceased her in 2023 and she is now reunited with the love of her life for eternity.
Nancy had an incredible eye for interior design and she found great joy in making all of her homes a warm place of comfort and beauty. In her spare time, she spent countless hours sewing, embroidering and quilting. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the personalized quilts she handcrafted with love for each of them.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Regina (James) Cunningham and Diana (Robert) Blackard, her son, Timothy Coté, her sisters, Patty (Tony) Costa, Renee (Kent) Brown and Althea (Richie) Frary, six grandchildren, Jameson, Aidan, Grady, Adriene, Kylie and Samuel and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Callum.
Our beautiful mother, sister, NanNan and best friend will be missed immensely but she will forever keep our hearts full with memories of the fun, laughter and spectacular cooking she so lovingly shared with us all. We love you, Mom.
