George was born on July 26, 1938 in Blount County, TN and was a graduate of Maryville High School. He later went on to serve his country, serving in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with Delta Airlines.
George had many hobbies and interests over the years. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot time fishing, hunting, shooting sporting clays, golfing and was often competitive with his sport of choice. He won numerous fishing tournaments, sporting clay competitions and was a state champion trap shooter. He also loved a good Western, good food, the beach, Cades Cove picnics, spending time with family and friends and just loved to laugh and tell a good (or bad) joke.
He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, in Maryville, TN and testified for the Lord wherever he could. Even in his last days he was witnessing to hospital staff, asking if they were saved.
George is survived by his devoted wife and "sweetheart" of 55 years, Pat Paine; his sons, Mike Paine and Tim Paine; his daughter, Kelly Paine Gibson; daughters-in-law Joy Paine and Telissa Paine; sister Marlene Alton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Paine Sr. and Maude Paine; sisters Kathryn McConnell and Barbara Stone; and brother Perry Paine Jr.
A worship service will be held in his honor along with a private graveside service in the upcoming days.
The family would like to thank the staff of Park West Hospital. A special thanks to Neurologist Patrick Flynn and Nurse Holly for their exceptional care and compassion.
George was loved by many and will be missed beyond measure. May the memories of him bring a smile to our faces and comfort us, until we see him again in heaven.
