Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Veronica Pinto (74) of Richland, WA passed away July 29, 2024. She was born to Norah and Lionel (Lenny) Vaz in Mangalore, India on September 16, 1949—the second youngest of 8 children.
Veronica married Adolf Patrick Pinto in India on December 4, 1972. Patrick met Veronica while visiting India prior to reporting to boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base, where he had joined the DC Air National Guard. Veronica came to the US in March 1973 and joined Patrick in Denver, CO. After Patrick completed Tech School at Lowery Air Force Base in September 1973, Patrick and Veronica moved to Richland, WA the first time. Patrick and Veronica’s two daughters Christina and Lisa were born in Richand in January 1974 and June 1976 respectively. The family moved to Torrance, CA in May 1980 where they lived until September 1984 when the family moved again to Idaho Falls, ID. In 2000, Patrick and Veronica moved back to Richland, WA where they had the opportunity to reconnect with many old friends.
During the 16 years we lived in Idaho Falls, Veronica found a love of service—volunteering in the school district and working as a Program Director at the Development Workshop which does rehabilitative care and vocational training for individuals with disabilities or disadvantages. Veronica always sought out ways to help people, even after she was no longer working.
In 2016, Patrick and Veronica joyously welcomed their grandson, Noah (son of Christina and Ira).
Veronica is survived by her husband: Patrick; her daughters Christina (Ira Pedlikin) Pinto and grandson Noah Pedlikin; her daughter Lisa Pinto; her brothers Patrick (Annette) Vaz, Archie (Mariette) Vaz, Francis Vaz.
