Stephen Milton Biegel, a fixture of warmth and wit, took his final journey on March 4, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on May 3, 1954, in Pendleton, Oregon, Stephen lived a life full of color and adventure, leaving behind a legacy cherished by his loved ones in Dayton, Washington.
Stephen was the type of guy whose unique charm could fill a room. With a natural knack for sarcasm and a heart as big as his stories, he made every moment memorable. Stephen had the delightful ability to turn strangers into friends and precious time into cherished moments. He was a loving husband to Gwyn, with whom he celebrated countless anniversaries since their wedding day on May 25, 1979. He was intensely proud of his children, Stephanie and J, and nothing brought him more joy than cherishing time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His children, Stephanie and J, will tell you that beneath that occasionally gruff exterior was a marshmallow of a man who couldn’t get enough of evenings with his family, spoiling his grandchildren and later great-grandchildren with love.
Stephen spent a dedicated life as a long haul truck driver, loved the open road and often shared this love through photos with his family. In addition to his family achievements, Stephen served his country with distinction as a member of the Army. His heart was never far from his true passions: camping under the stars, gazing at the moon, hunting in his favorite mountains, casting lines into quiet lakes, and his real love affair with the ocean, where he, his pets and family explored many beaches together.
Stephen had a quick wit and a candid nature, which made him a beloved figure among friends and family. He had a way of momentarily quieting his boisterous nature to care deeply and fiercely for those around him. His legacy of love and laughter will continue through his wife Gwyn, his children Stephanie and J, his grandchildren Eternity, Austin, Tiana, Lexiss, Christian, Damion, Jordan, Delphene, his great grandchildren Claireabell, Noah, long time family friend Jeri, and his siblings Cyndy and Robbie. He joins in peace his parents, Sheila and Robert, and his brothers, Ted and Kyle.
We invite you to join us for a celebration of Stephen’s life at his home, 130 Montgomery Lane in Dayton, WA on March 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. In true Stephen fashion, let’s swap stories, enjoy some good music, and maybe even dance a little—a fitting tribute to a man who always embraced life with both arms wide open. As we remember Stephen Milton Biegel, let's remember to carry his spirit forward: love deeply, laugh fully, and when in doubt, dance like nobody's watching.
