

Yvette M. Watkins, beloved mother, musician, friend, and radiant soul, passed away on December 6, 2025. Born on January 5, 1962, Yvette spent her life sharing light wherever she went. She had a rare gift for making others feel loved, seen, and welcomed, and her presence brightened the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A lifelong musician and a joyful spirit, Yvette brought people together through sound, laughter, and heartfelt connection. She generously gave her time to the community, volunteering countless hours to lift up others and spread kindness in ways both quiet and profound. Her legacy is one of compassion, creativity, and unwavering love.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Yvette’s life through music, dance, and storytelling—her favorite ways to bring people together—on December 28, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Broadside, 600 N Broad Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119. In honor of her vibrant spirit, tie-dye and bright attire are encouraged.
Yvette is survived by her sister, Rachel Watkins; her children, Kurt T. Bellow Jr. (Tamara Bellow) and April Bellow; and her beloved grandchildren, Kylie McDonald, Audrey Bellow, Michael Marshall, and Joshua Marshall. Each carries forward a piece of her boundless love and joyful energy.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family encourages donations in Yvette’s name to her favorite nonprofit organizations: Threadheads or WWOZ, both close to her heart and reflective of her deep passion for music and community.
