Willis Robert Lane, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at his home in Harahan, LA at the age of 96. Willis is a United States Army Veteran who served in World War II. During WWII he was stationed in Germany, France, and Poland, where he learned the different languages abroad and was proud to share them with everyone he spoke to back home. Willis spent his time going to the Salvation Army and collecting things, so that he could later work in his garage building, fixing, and just generally tinkering with them. Willis is survived by his daughter, Ada L. Lane, and his son, Willis R. Lane, Jr., as well as 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Willis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Wells Lane, his parents, Maybel Hodge Lane and Calvin R. Lane, his daughter, Talatha Lane McPhate, his son, Calvin R. Lane, and his two sisters. Services will be private at a later date.
