Poe graduated from St Martin's Episcopal School and Tulane University where he was a member of the KA fraternity. He served as an officer in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After returning to New Orleans, he became a commercial real estate appraiser. He was a man of many interests and hobbies. From managing a soccer team to target shooting, to flying his airplanes, and racing sailboats, he was always involved. Also an artist, Poe's sometimes (well always) lascivious characters graced the invitations of many Momus balls, as well friends' special events. Poe was a member of the Southern Yacht Club and former member of the Louisiana Club and the Boston Club. Most Fridays found him at the SYC eating lunch at the Friendship Table. He will be remembered for his sailboats, all named "Pogo", which he raced for years with the very best crew on Lake Pontchartrain.
The family appreciates the support and love of his many friends, Compassus Hospice, and caregivers Louise Ezeb and Mentrell Joseph. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Southern Yacht Club at 5:00 on Thursday, August 31. Burial will be private.
