Victor (Vic) Joseph Serio, a proud Vietnam Army veteran, and lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Azalea Hospice House at the VA Medical Center in New Orleans. He was born on December 23, 1944.
Vic Serio is survived by a daughter, Sherry Josephine Serio, sister Joy Lynn Serio Dunbar, nephew Miles Dunbar, niece Jane Serio Brun, and other relatives and friends. Loving son of the late Marie Lodato Serio and Anthony S. Serio, brother of the late Salvatore J. Serio, and uncle of the late Anthony N. Serio.
Vic developed a passion for baseball at an early age and he channeled his love for the game as a dedicated and enthusiastic little league baseball coach, known as “Coach Vic.” Over 20 years, he tirelessly coached and mentored his baseball teams to many championships. He always treasured his coaching memories and found boundless joy and purpose in making a positive impact on kids’ lives. Over 18 years, Vic also worked as an airport driver at the Airport Shuttle New Orleans. He enjoyed sharing the culture of New Orleans with his tourist passengers and always making them laugh with his good ole jokes. Vic will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Azalea Hospice at the VA Medical Center in New Orleans for their sympathetic and compassionate care for Victor Serio and all veterans.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 4640 Canal St., New Orleans, LA 70119 on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm.
