Thomas "Tom" Paul Ponthieux

He was born in Mansura, Louisiana but was a long time New Orleans resident.

Tom was the beloved husband of Patricia Damian Bel Ponthieux for eleven years. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, the late Samuel Luke Ponthier and Helen Cecilia Ponthier and his late brother, Eugene Ponthier.

He is survived by his two children, Tricia Ponthieux Henry of Houston

Texas and Brian Gerard Ponthieux of Lyon France, son-in-law, Charles Samuel Henry III, and three grandchildren, Ryleigh Grace Henry, Charles Samuel Henry IV, and Jake Joseph Henry. He is also survived by his sister, Lola Dauzat and brother, Gary Ponthier, and many nieces and nephews, Walter Gordon Eckhardt, Georggina Eckhardt, Anne-Marie Eckhardt, Julia Lynn Matherne.

Tom graduated from Mansura High School and moved shortly after that to the New Orleans area. He then served in the United States Army. Tom had many friends and family who he held close to his heart. Those who knew him delighted in his Cajun sense of humor and cooking. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and dog, Buster, cooking for them. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being by the water. He also spent his last 10 years traveling around the world which brought him great joy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Catholic Mass celebrated in Tom’s memory this Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 4:00 PM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd. Metairie, LA 70005. A celebration will follow at their residence, 5818 Bellaire Drive New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
