Theodore N. ‘Ted’ Chapman September 16, 1957 — January 8, 2017 Theodore N. “Ted” Chapman passed away at his home in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the age of 59. He is survived by his siblings, Thomas Chapman, Jr. (Diane) of Bradford, Massachusetts, Pat Wagner (Warren) of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Judy Thorne (Billy) of Slidell, Louisiana, and Terri DesRoches (George) of Haverhill, Massachusetts. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends. He has been rejoined with his parents in Heaven, the late Tom and Mae Chapman. Originally from Haverhill, Massachusetts, Ted lived in New Orleans for nearly 30 years. He thoroughly enjoyed working at various automotive disposal facilities and worked the kitchen in the Treasure Isle Tavern in New Orleans, where he rode out Hurricane Katrina. Post Katrina, he was evacuated and moved back home to Haverhill for 2 years before moving back south in 2007. Ted enjoyed his friendships with many loyal people and was known as “the dude on the bike” in his neighborhood. He also served in the U.S. Navy in the early 1980’s. With his amazing memory, Ted could tell you the dates and years of all U.S. presidents and any license plate number he had seen from at least 40 years past. He would say that when he tried to go to sleep at night, all he could see were numbers flashing through his head. He was a unique and giving human being; Ted had the ability to make anyone smile with his stories and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends, and all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Interment will be at a later date in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana.
