Susan Schoner Fisher of Algiers, New Orleans, beloved wife and mother, passed away after a short illness April 14, 2018 at age 75. She was born Jan 2, 1943 in Orange, NJ to the late Warren and Jean Schoner, who moved with Susan and her sister Linda to Jefferson Parish, LA in 1946. She attended East Jefferson High School (member Pi Epsilon Pi sorority) and LSU Baton Rouge.
The main focus of Susan’s life was always her family, of which she was the rock. She was the personification of goodness and kindness, and the most loyal of friends. She worked many years as a caseworker and supervisor for the LA State Dept. of Welfare, and was a volunteer and secretary at St. Andrew the Apostle School in Algiers for over 30 years. She loved the children of St. Andrew and they loved her right back. You couldn’t go anywhere with her on the Westbank without a student or former student yelling out “Hi Mrs. Fisher!”
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Fisher; daughter Amy Leigh Fisher of Gretna, and son William Warren Fisher of Hammond; grandchildren Julia Bindewald, James Bindewald, Ashley Fisher, Hallie Fisher, Will Fisher, Cate Fisher, Ben Fisher and Zachary Fisher, and great-grandchild Charlie Fisher; sister Linda Condit; niece Susan Condit; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William G. Fisher and Kay Pfingston Fisher of Circleville, OH; And, predeceasing her death, niece Jennifer Condit Grandolfo. Arrangements are pending. Burial later in Tobias, NE, where she will be joined later by her husband Jim. Memorials in her memory to the Louisiana SPCA. Cremation entrusted to the Neptune Society.
