Sidney "Sid" Joseph Folse Sr.

Sidney “Sid” Joseph Folse, Sr. peacefully passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at The Carpenter House at St. Joseph Hospice in River Ridge, LA at the age of 80. He resided at Ormond Nursing and Care Center in Destrehan, LA. Sidney is predeceased by his wife, Ruby LeBlanc Folse; father, Norman Mary Folse, Sr.; mother, Julia Octavia Stiles Folse; brother, Norman Mary Folse, Jr.; and sister, June Ann Smith from West Palm Beach, FL. Sidney is survived by three sons – Sidney Folse, Jr. (Yvette), Christopher Folse (Pamela), and Scott Folse (Noella), and two brothers – Eugene Folse (Janet) from Huntsville, AL and William Folse (Candy). He leaves behind 9 grandchildren – Chad (Courtney), Shawn (fiance’ Briana), Everett, Justin, Garrett, Brennan, Kaitlin, Scott, Jr., Jordan, and two great-granddaughters - Lilly and Stella. Also survived by his devoted friend Marilyn Monie, and a host of other loving relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sidney was an Automobile Mechanic in his early years, a Supervisor at Delta Container Corporation, an Insurance Agent with Primerica, and retired from Wayne Songy and Associates as a Realtor after 12 years. His hobbies included square dancing, playing the organ/keyboard, and tinkering with automobiles. He was a member of the St. Philip of Neri Church Choir for 30 years, which was a major part of his life. Sidney was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion for his dedication and service to the Catholic Church. He graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1956. The family would like to thank all who cared for Sidney at Ormond Nursing and Care Center in Destrehan, LA; Ochsner Hospital in Kenner, LA; and The Carpenter’s House at St. Joseph Hospice in River Ridge, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Avenue, Metairie, LA on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be between 9:30 AM -11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
