Beloved younger daughter of the late Winnie Bourgeois Wille and Edwin A. Wille. Sister of the late Jocelyn W. Lozes. Devoted and loving mother of Susan Schwary Scanio, Ronald G. Schwary Jr., and Richard J. Schwary. Mother-in-law of the late Pascal “Pat” Scanio, Jr. Adoring “Granny” to her 5 loving grandchildren, Pascal “Cal” Scanio III (Courtney), Zane Schwary (Sarah), Haley Powell (Errol), Chase Schwary, and Kayla Schwary. Great-grandmother of Giuliana Scanio, Hay’Lynn Marie, and unborn baby girl Scarlet Schwary (due in November 2026). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sheryl graduated in 1956, from St. Mary's Dominican High School. She began her legal career in the early 1970s. She was a legal secretary with The Law Firm of Cooper and Smith until she retired at the age of 80. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. She touched the lives of everyone she met. Sheryl was also an avid dog lover.
A very special thanks to all of her caregivers, including Anne Merchant, home health nurses Hailey Pierce, Gayle Polite, Angel Hill, and Paulina Cox, and Chaplain J.J. Javetra with Compassus Hospice, along with everyone at Our Lady of Wisdom, especially Sister Catherine Riggs, Christina Lanier, and Vicki Scott with Notre Dame Hospice.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Wisdom in the Chapel, 5600 General De Gaulle Dr, New Orleans, LA 70131, on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM, with a Celebration of Life service to follow the Mass, around 12:00 PM Noon. Interment of ashes will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses offered in Sheryl’s honor, or donations made in Sheryl’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/).
