Sharon Lynn Jacob Storts passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the age of 83. She was diagnosed with cancer about a year prior and lived every day, fully enjoying life. She was preceded in death by her parents Shirley Wattigny Jacob and Herbert Gabriel Jacob as well as her sister Judy. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Jimmy, her 3 daughters, Michele Gonzales (Steve), Lori Anders, and Nicole Storts. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and their families: Stephen Gonzales Jr (Lainey), Charles Anders (Sarah), Brooke Anders (Kevin), and Alexis Storts. Her great-grandchildren warmed her heart. They are Tye Anders and Corey Owens, Hunter Anders, and Stephen III and Lucy Gonzales. Her two precious nieces Janet Mascair and Terri Wall were like daughters to her. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family. Her fur baby Luna and her grand fur babies love and miss her.
Sharon’s smile lit up a room and her hugs made you feel the depth of her love. She graduated from Academy of Holy Angels in 1958 and attended LSUNO. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and her sisters were a major part of her life for over 60 years. She was a devoted member of the St. Francis Xavier St. Joseph Altar Society and created the beautiful arch for many years. She rode in King Arthur and the Mystical Order of the Phoenix Mardi Gras parades. Her nickname was “Mama Vyxen” and all of her girls loved her stories and spending time with her. She never met a craft she could not replicate and make more extraordinary or a Mardi Gras headpiece she could not create. She was an extraordinary cook and all were welcome at her table. She always said she was French, German, and Irish by heritage but Italian by osmosis! Her favorite color was Kelly green in honor of her Irish heritage.
Though she has departed this world and her loss will be forever missed, she remains in our hearts always. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm on Saturday, 9/23/23 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, with Mass following at 1:00pm. A private inurnment will take place on Monday 9/25/23.
