Sara Bland Mundie

Sara Bland Mundie, born Sara Rebecca Bland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born on May 20, 1940 to Freddie O. Bland and Adeline Sartain Bland in Port Arthur, TX. Her family moved to New Orleans in 1950 where she first was married to Wendell Neal Hanson in 1958 until his passing sixteen years later.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, James Andrew Mundie, Jr., her son Karl N. Hanson, MD (Pam), grandchildren Kelsey E. Hanson, DVM, (Lachlan McQueen), Kirk A. Hanson and Erik N. Hanson, MD (Madeline) and great-granddaughter Charlotte A. Hanson.

Sara was a graduate of Mc Donough 35 High School. She was an avid traveler and an accomplished bridge player as a member of the American Contract Bridge League. During their retirement years Sara and her husband Jim were active book collectors and book sellers primarily in Civil War and Indian Wars history. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sara and James are both members of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Metairie.
