Sandra Jean Naylor

Sandy was born on November 4, 1948, in Morristown, New Jersey, to Louis and Nina Romano. She worked as an administrative assistant at Exxon, where she met her husband Christopher Naylor and his dear daughter, Catherine. Following their marriage in 1975, they lived in England and in Holland, returning to New Jersey in 1980 and ultimately settling in Louisiana in 1986.

Sandy had a gift for making everyone she met instantly feel like family, with a genuine warmth and kindness that was unmatched. Many of her daughters’ friends considered her a second mom growing up; her guidance and compassion extended far beyond family, and she became a trusted advisor and source of comfort to many people throughout her life. A woman of deep Christian faith, Sandy’s personal relationship with God shaped how she cared for others. She truly never met a stranger and cherished her circle of friends from bowling leagues, pokeno games, and daily gatherings at local donut shops. She loved her family deeply, and was also known to have a special soft spot for dogs (particularly her Belgian Malinois, Ammeaux).

Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Christopher; her parents, Louis and Nina Romano; her brother Louis Romano and sister-in-law Anne Romano; her brother-in-law Robert Taylor; her nephew Robert Taylor Jr.; and her cousin Evelyn Winkler, who was raised alongside Sandy like a sister.

She is survived by her daughters Catherine Bray, Julia Naylor, and Emily Mire (husband Christopher); her grandchildren Bennett, James & Molly Bray, Aiden Kirk, and Chase, Cameron & Cydney Mire; former sons-in-law Stefan Bray and Cody Kirk; sister Evelyn Taylor; brother Thomas Romano; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and unwavering love.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18 from 1:00-3:00pm at The Crossing, 519 Williams Blvd, Kenner. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to share fond memories of Sandra (a private lunch will be held for family from 12:00-1:00pm).
