Sally was born in Massillon, OH, on the 4th of July to Jacob Frederick Hess Sr. and Catherine Lynch Hess. She attended Miami University of Ohio and went on to become a 4th grade teacher at Whittier Grade School in Massillon, Ohio. In 1955 she married the love of her life, Richard E. Woolbert. Sally lived in several towns throughout her life and was very active within church communities: Central Presbyterian Church of Massillon Ohio, Greens Farms Congregational Church of Westport CT, Lakeview Presbyterian Church of New Orleans LA and First United Methodist Church of Chatham MA. She loved spending time with her family and friends, sharing her love of history and the arts, as well as, making dollhouses. She was the best mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor and friend to so many.
Sally is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Richard E. Woolbert; children, Christine Negrotto (Jimy), Richard Woolbert III (Lisa), Carrie Woolbert, and Polly Linton (Donald); grandchildren Colleen Dupépé (Derek), Richard Woolbert IV, Megan Woolbert, Carrie Linton, Nicholas Linton and Jessica Linton; and great-grandchildren Payton Dupépé and Dylan Dupépé. She was preceded in death by her brother Jacob Frederick Hess Jr., sister Nancy Hess Elder and her parents.
A Celebration of Banny’s Life will be held in Chatham, MA in June 2019 at First United Methodist Church.
