He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton & Mary Schulte, his brother Robert Francis, and his sister Mary Elizabeth (MaryBeth).
He was a native of Rochester, MN, but called the greater New Orleans area home for nearly 65 years. He traveled to New Orleans for the first time to assist with a retreat. It was at that retreat that he met his wife, Janet Lee LeBlanc. They married in 1962 and were happy that way until his passing.
Ron will be missed by his wife, Jan, six children, Ann Cortazzo (Thomas), Ellen Schulte, Michele McGovern (Clay), Anton (Tony) Schulte (Diane), Amy Kishbaugh (Elwood “Bob”), and Mary Collins (Charles); seven grandchildren, Paul Cortazzo, Connor O’Neil (fiancée Desireé), Colin McGovern, Liam McGovern, Parrish Tschantz, Cooper Tschantz, and Daisy Schulte; four step-grandchildren, Hannah Tossey (Thomas), Anna-Li Gardner (Ryan), Caydon Collins, and Avriana Collins; two brothers, Gerald Schulte (Donna) and Patrick Schulte (Sandi); 5 brothers- and sisters-in-law; 21 nieces and nephews; and many friends near and far.
Ron was a devout Catholic his entire life, serving as a lector, eucharistic minister, altar server, and many other roles. He served on the Parish Council at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Marrero several times throughout the decades that he and Jan were parishioners there.
He was gentle, kind, generous, and thoughtful. Everyone knew Ron for his willingness to help, his ability to make you smile, his warm heart, and boisterous personality. He never met a stranger and was eager to be in the middle of all the excitement.
The Schulte family extends a heartfelt thanks to Ron's caregivers at Woldenberg Village Azaleas Community for the tender attention he received while living there.
Ron will be remembered by family and friends at a memorial service on Monday, January 27, 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Marrero. Rosary at 1:30 pm followed by a mass at 2:00 pm.
