After a yearlong battle with stage 4 lung cancer and numerous brain tumors, Robert Wayne Serié died peacefully at his home with his daughter Susan by his side. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his soulmate and his wife of 43 years, Julie H. Serié. He is survived by his daughter, Susan M.Rehage (husband, Raymond J. Rehage), his grandchildren, Raymond Nicholas Rehage, Cynthia Jean Rehage (Matthew Shannahan), and Emmy Lynn Gallodoro (husband, Bryan Gallodoro), and his great-grandchildren, Bryan and Joshua Gallodoro.
Robert was the youngest of 5 children, born to the late Ferdinand and Lucille Spinella Serié of Madisonville, LA. His surviving brother, Raymond F. Serié (wife, Janeth Serié) has 5 sons; Neal Serié (first wife, the late Joan Serié, current wife, Donna Serié and sons, Matthew and Michael Serié), Brian Serié (wife, Wendy Serié, daughters, Heather, Courtney, and Bridget Serié, and grandchildren, Jordan and Owen), Scott Serié (son, Issac Serié), Keith Serié (Monica Matherne), and Robert’s Godchild, Lyle Serié (wife, Teresa Serié and children, Allen, Christi, Abriana, Laden, and Tiffini). Brother of the late Frank Anthony Serié (wife, Christine Fogg Serié, children, Bonnie Serié Abney, Sherry Serié Tomes, the late Frank A. Serié, Jr., and the late Barry Serié, children-in-law, Larry Abney, Jr. and Andy Tomes, and grandchildren, Larry Abney, III, Christopher Abney, Jeffery Silvia, Brian Silvia, Leann Serié, and the late Johnny McCain); brother of the late Yvonne Serié and the late Jacqueline Serié Barthel (husband, Gustave Blaise Barthel, children, Bonnie Barthel and Debbie Harper, children-in-law, Scott Ashbaugh and Bryan Harper, and grandchild, Jesse Harper).
Robert served as a radio operator (Radar) In the United States Navy on board the U.S. McCaffery (DD 860) from 1968 until 1971. He met Julie in 1970 and they married in 1971. They both lived together happily in Kenner until Julie passed away in 2013. Robert worked as a leather craftsman at Crescent Belt Manufacturers for over 50 years. Robert was a frequent guest at Treasure Chest Casino and would like to thank his favorite beverage server, Carlos, and his favorite dealer, Erroyl, for their continued hospitality. Robert enjoyed casinos, family card games, wood-working, puzzles, and caring for his lawn. He would like to thank Ray, Nick, and Matt for helping with his lawn when he could no longer maintain it.
The family would like to thank Robert’s neighbors, Janie Clutterbuck and Carol Bridges, for all of their help, and especially Grace Martinez for her lasting friendship, mutual love for animals, and continued care of his cats that he loved so much. The family would also like to thank Robert’s nurse, Ann Cantrell, for her care and compassion during the last months of his life.

Everyone is invited to attend a short intimate graveside ceremony and military honors salute at Garden of Memories Resurrection Mausoleum on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 3:00PM, where he will be interred for eternity next to his loving wife, Julie H. Serié, along with their favorite cat, Phantom.
